2023
The 7th annual Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival was the first to be held in October on the last day of Hispanic Heritage Month. More than 500 people walked in the parade along with 4 new floats, Dot the Rabbit by Einstein HS, the Blackistone Swan, Mr. Nobody by Rose Hull, and Alijibres creatures by Jessica Muñiz Witmer. Attendance at the festival was the largest ever in spite of the breezy conditions. Video by Troy Williams.
2022
The 6th annual Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival saw more than 400 people walking in the parade along with 16 large floats, bands, dance companies, arts groups and community organizations. More than 50 artists sold their original art at the festival and there were more than 24 performances on the festival stages. The winner of the poster contest was K.S. Brenowitz, a Silver Spring resident and graphic artist.
2021
The 5th Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival was the first to take place in the heart of the Wheaton Triangle in and around the Marian Fryer Plaza. The weather was perfect. More than 15 large floats were pulled in the parade. 50 artists sold their work at tents in the festival. There were three stages of continuous entertainment and a Beer Garden. Video by Ed Murtaugh.
2020
When the COVID pandemic prevented the 4th annual Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival, WAP brought art to the streets and sidewalks of Wheaton where it could be appreciated safely during a 2-week installation called "The Path of Pyramids." The annual festival became a virtual fest streamed via Facebook live. The poster contest was won by Alyson Sanchez from Albert Einstein High School.
2019
In its third year, the parade grew to more than 500 participants and the festival to more than 70 tents of artists and three stages of entertainment. The summer workshop created a walrus float and a community mosaic was unveiled. The poster design contest was won by Daniela Schuping of Winston Churchill High School.
2018
Rain did not damped spirits for the second annual Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival. More schools, more artists, and more performers joined the parade and festivities. The summer workshops created a giant dragon float and Northwood HS seniors made a giant peace globe. The poster design contest was won by Chris Ma from Richard Montgomery High School.
2017
The inaugural Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival brought a dream to life on a sunny September Sunday as dozens of artists, community organization, schools, and residents paraded art and performed as they marched toward the community festival at Veterans Urban Park. The poster design contest was won by Garret Golz from Winston Churchill High School.
