The Wheaton Arts Parade (WAP) Gallery will host “Scaled-Down for Spring” an exhibition of art that is 20"x20" or smaller. The exhibit will run from March 11 to April 30, 2023. "Scaled Down for Spring" is an opportunity for 20 to 25 artists to exhibit and sell their original, professional quality artwork. We are looking for artists’ interpretations and impressions of the transition from winter to spring. We encourage artists to consider the theme from the broadest possible perspective. This is a great opportunity to showcase small unique works!
Eligibility: All media may be submitted: painting, drawing, photograph, sculpture, fiber etc. Artists must be from MD-DC-VA metro area. Art must remain on display for the duration of the show and everything on display must be for sale.
Registration Deadline: February 20. There is no fee to apply with up to 6 pieces of art for consideration. The link to the registration form and important details are in the PROSPECTUS. You will receive an email on February 22 indicating whether your work was accepted.
Gallery Fee & Commission: The fee to exhibit is $100 for the length of the show. The Gallery's commission is 10% on all sales.
Display Requirements: The WAP Gallery selects the artwork that will be exhibited based on size, medium, and content. The Gallery aims to exhibit a diverse collection of original art by local artists. Artists can exhibit up to six works. Art for hanging (framed and unframed) must be dry and wired, using eye hooks or d-rings and wire that is of sufficient gauge to hold the weight of the artwork. Wire should not be visible when the painting is hung on the wall. No sawtooth hangers should be used. Unframed works must have finished edges using the medium used to create the work.
Artist Responsibilities: The gallery relies upon artist volunteers who are able to help operate the gallery. The gallery needs a volunteer at the front desk to manage sales transactions and a volunteer at the back table to help watch over the merchandise and serve customers. To compensate volunteers the gallery offers a nominal compensation.
Art Drop-Off: All accepted applicants will receive an email on February 22 with a link to the Gallery's signup.com page to reserve a time to deliver their art on February 26.
